Addis Ababa, Apr 6 (Prensa Latina) Ethiopia has confirmed today the suspension of talks with Sudan and Egypt without reaching a consensus solution regarding the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia stated that the nature of the issues of difference are at the moment deeply rooted and more time is needed.

The file is in the hands of the irrigation ministers of the three countries, and the possibility of dialogue remained open for the future, although no date was set in this regard.

The Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not want to reveal for now the differences that caused the suspension of the talks, which began yesterday in Khartoum, capital of Sudan.

The meeting was held after a summit that brought together the leaders of the three nations in Addis Ababa, in January.

The last round of tripartite talks on the dam has ended in November without reaching an agreement on the technical report prepared by French firms about the potential impact of the dam.

In December 2017, Egypt proposed to Ethiopia to have the World Bank act as a neutral party in the activities of the tripartite technical committee, but the Ethiopian authorities refused.
